Research Training

The training needed for any particular study varies widely. Some studies do not require any training. Some require only that you read some materials, then participate in a telephone conference call. Others require taking an online course, followed by one or more visits to your practice for further on-site training.

Before you enroll in any particular study, we will discuss with you how much training time would be required, as well as how much time would be required to participate in the study once you have completed the training. The expectation with PBRN research is to interfere as little as possible with the daily routine of your practice.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers an online training course in how to properly conduct research with patients in your practice. You can proceed directly to the course by clicking on the "Step 1" web link below. If you prefer, we can mail you a printed version of the full course, which some find easier to deal with. After reading the materials, then all you would need to do is to log onto the NIH web site to answer some test questions to get your course certificate.
